Job Title: Head of Technical

At Bellway Homes, we are seeking an experienced and skilled Head of Technical to join our Scotland West Division. As a key member of our senior management team, you will be responsible for leading and managing our technical function to deliver a practical and cost-effective technical service to the division.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Effectively work as part of the senior management team to manage challenges and issues, leading, motivating, communicating, and developing the technical team to achieve best performance and meet business needs.
  • Manage the division's technical function to ensure best practices are followed, costs are controlled, and the department maximizes revenue generation and contribution to the division's operating profit.
  • Advise the land department on the technical viability of new sites.
  • Ensure planning permissions and other statutory approvals are obtained in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and issue technical reports, working drawings, and layouts to the agreed schedule.
  • Liaise with commercial teams to ensure activities are delivered to agreed time, cost, and specification.
  • Monitor and ensure technical team interventions are within budgets and forecasts, aligned with Group procedures and protocols.
  • Provide accurate progress updates and regular reports to the Managing Director and liaise with the Group Technical Director on ongoing initiatives and strategies.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience working at a senior level in the housebuilding industry, with a good understanding of Health & Safety/CDM Regulations, LABC/NHBC requirements, Building Regulations, Planning System, Codes of Practice, and other associated legislation.
  • Qualifications and Training: Qualified as a Civil/Building Engineer, Architecture, or Construction-related degree level or HNC/HND in a built environment subject with relevant experience.
  • CSCS card or equivalent, current full UK driving license, and proficient IT skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
