We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Housing Peer Support Worker to join our team at Turning Point. As a Housing Peer Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with substance misuse issues to achieve their goals and improve their overall well-being.
About the RoleAs a Housing Peer Support Worker, you will work closely with our Recovery Workers to provide person-centered support to service users. Your role will involve working with a caseload of service users to support them in sustaining their accommodation and tenancies, as well as helping them to access services within their local communities that support their recovery.
You will also provide the link between specialist substance misuse housing-related support and treatment and recovery services, facilitating access to mutual aid and accompanying service users to mutual aid meetings where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities- Work with a caseload of service users to support them in sustaining their accommodation and tenancies
- Provide person-centered support to service users, including practical support and guidance
- Help service users to access services within their local communities that support their recovery
- Facilitate access to mutual aid and accompany service users to mutual aid meetings where appropriate
- Work closely with Recovery Workers to provide comprehensive support to service users
We are looking for a candidate with an understanding of substance and alcohol misuse, as well as the challenges and opportunities for individuals on a recovery journey. You will also need excellent communication skills and the ability to work dynamically on a one-to-one and group basis.
Experience of working in a similar role or in a related field, such as mental health or housing, is desirable. However, we also recognize that many people have transferable skills and are eager to develop their careers in substance misuse.
