Main DutiesThe Trauma Coordinator will work closely with the Trauma and Orthopaedic team to manage the orthopaedic trauma admissions to St Thomas' Hospital. The aim is to improve the pathway for patients to receive the best care in a timely fashion. The Trauma Coordinator will provide expert advice to nursing and MDT teams on pre- and post-operative management, work with the team to schedule surgery within agreed timeframes, and act as a point of contact for patients not within the footprint of the orthopaedic ward.
The Trauma Coordinator will also be responsible for liaising with various subspecialties to coordinate care between sites, ensuring seamless patient care. This role will require strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities- Manage orthopaedic trauma admissions to St Thomas' Hospital
- Provide expert advice to nursing and MDT teams on pre- and post-operative management
- Work with the team to schedule surgery within agreed timeframes
- Act as a point of contact for patients not within the footprint of the orthopaedic ward
- Liaise with various subspecialties to coordinate care between sites
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, be registered with the NMC, and have extensive experience in the specialty. A Master's degree or willingness to work towards one is also desirable. The candidate should have advanced physical assessment skills, teaching and mentorship qualifications, and experience of interprofessional working.
