Job Overview

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Anatomical Pathology Technologist to join our Mortuary Services team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist in all aspects of Mortuary Services, including post mortem provision for adults, perinatal/paediatric cases, and care of the deceased.
  • Provide dedicated training and support to trainee APTs to ensure they reach the required standard to pass the Level 3 Diploma.
  • Work collaboratively with the Mortuary team to ensure the smooth operation of Mortuary Services.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of quality assurance and control processes.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to colleagues.

Requirements

  • Level 4 Diploma or Equivalent in Anatomical Pathology Technology issued by RSPH.
  • Substantive experience in an HTA accredited Mortuary.
  • Ability to perform all relevant manual and automated tasks in the department.
  • Knowledge and understanding of local and national health and safety policies.
  • Competent in Mortuary and Post mortem techniques and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to analyse, interpret, and present routine data/results/concepts.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet packages, and databases.
  • Computer literate with intermediate keyboard skills.
