Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Environmental Health and Trading Standards Service in managing the Public Mortuary, working closely with the Coroner's Service to deliver a joined-up response to public health funerals.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out casework, including post-mortems and forensic cases, and assist the pathologist in maintaining accurate records and administrative arrangements.

• Undertake high-profile or complicated casework as necessary, and assist the pathologist in post-mortems and forensic cases.

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive system of monitoring and reporting performance against targets.

• Work out of hours as required, and assist in the reconstruction and cleaning of bodies for storage or release to undertakers.

• Manage the Parish Funerals process, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of services.

Requirements

• Demonstrate experience of continuing professional development within the Mortuary Service.

• Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Be well-organized, with good administrative and computer skills.

• Hold a Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology (or equivalent).
