Practice Reception Support

We are looking for an exceptional Practice Reception Support professional to join our dedicated NHS team. As a Receptionist, you will play a vital role in providing excellent patient care and administrative support to our medical professionals.
About the Job
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for managing the reception area, handling patient enquiries, booking appointments, and responding to phone calls.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional patient care, ensuring a warm welcome and efficient service.
- Manage the appointment system, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
- Handle urgent consultations, referring patients to GPs when necessary.
- Record requests for home visits, assessing urgency in line with practice protocols.
- Ensure the computerised appointment system is up-to-date, accurate, and secure.
- Redirect patient and visitor requests efficiently, escalating issues to senior staff when necessary.
- Explain practice procedures to new patients, setting them up on the computer system.
- Advise patients on charges for private services, accept payment, and issue receipts.
- Produce repeat prescriptions according to practice procedures, distributing completed prescriptions timely.
- Filing correspondence, reports, results electronically in patient records.
- Maintain a clean and tidy reception and waiting area, ensuring a safe environment.
- Answer incoming phone calls, documenting calls and redirecting as necessary.
- Action start and end of day procedures, adhering to practice protocols.
Requirements
- GCSE Maths and English qualifications are essential.
Salary
We offer a competitive salary of £27,000 - £33,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
