This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate in a biochemistry-related field to launch their career in the industry. With 0-2 years of experience, you will be part of The Cell Engineering group at SRG in Cambridge, UK.

The role involves supporting R&D projects, collaborating with other groups to deliver solutions, and staying up-to-date with academic literature. You will contribute to delivering new mammalian expression hosts and vectors, engineer cell lines, generate expression vectors, and characterize edited cell lines using various techniques.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the delivery of new mammalian expression hosts and vector systems.
  • Engineer mammalian cell lines through random integration, targeted integration, and gene editing.
  • Generate mammalian expression vectors using state-of-the-art assembly techniques.
  • Phenotypically characterize edited cell lines with relevant assays and cell culture techniques.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with other groups within R&D to deliver solutions or improvements in recombinant protein expression.

Candidate Requirements:
  1. BSc/MSc Degree in Life Sciences/Science/Molecular Biology.
  2. Practical experience in an industrial/academic setting is desirable.
  3. Good technical background in molecular biology and cell culture with a focus on developing or manipulating mammalian expression systems.
  4. Strong technical skills, scientific execution, and data analysis are essential.
  5. A proactive attitude to working and solving challenging problems.
  6. Good working knowledge of statistics and expertise in design.
  7. Experience with cell line engineering and CRISPR-based systems would be an advantage.
