About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and passionate individual to join our well-established therapy team who work on our 20-bed stroke rehabilitation ward.

The post provides an excellent opportunity to broaden your knowledge in a range of specialties such as stroke, neurological conditions, medicine, elderly care, and surgery & orthopaedics.

As a Therapy Assistant, you will work within a multi-disciplinary team in a community hospital inpatient ward, providing support and treatment to individuals following a stroke, within guidelines and protocols identified for the role.

Main Duties

  1. Assist registered staff in assessment and therapy tasks
  2. Move, treat, communicate with patients in accordance with the therapy plan
  3. Implement treatment plans agreed with the registered therapy staff, including overseeing and assisting with physical exercise, personal care (washing, toileting) and practice of domestic activities of daily living and the use of technologies such as computing, and supporting communication and safe swallowing
  4. Work with patients with cognitive and/or perceptual difficulties
  5. Train and educate patients, carers and families under the direction of registered staff
