About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Matron to provide leadership and clinical expertise in our new specialist acute inpatient mental health service and outreach team. As a key member of the project team, you will be instrumental in the development, implementation, and delivery of the clinical and operational model for the inpatient service.

Main Responsibilities

As Matron, you will act as a clinical leader, contributing to clinical responsibilities and providing professional leadership within the Learning Disability and Autism unit. You will set up systems to support the delivery of high-quality, evidenced-based nursing care and safe, therapeutic environments that promote recovery.

You will line manage nursing staff, clinical, and administrative staff, supporting care delivery. You will discharge your responsibilities in line with the 10 core responsibilities outlined in the Matrons Handbook to ensure national and service quality standards are monitored and reported on.

Person Specification

  • RN3 mental health nurse/Registered learning disability nurse RNLD
  • Demonstrable understanding of people with a learning disability and/or autism
  • Experience at a senior level in a relevant clinical environment
  • Highly developed people management, clinical leadership, quality leadership, and financial and budget management skills
  • Knowledge of MHA, MCA, and other relevant legislation
