Science Technician Opportunity

Austin Fraser and Lancashire County Council are seeking a highly skilled Science Technician to join their team in the Preston area.

This role offers an exciting chance to contribute to the education sector and develop your skills.

  • Maintain and optimize laboratory equipment and apparatus
  • Design, construct, and set up experiments and demonstrations
  • Deliver top-notch technical support to pupils and students
  • Procure resources and materials as necessary
  • Support teaching staff in practical lessons and activities
  • Implement and maintain Health & Safety protocols and cleanliness standards
  • Develop strong relationships with colleagues and students

Your Key Responsibilities

  1. Take charge of maintaining laboratory equipment and apparatus
  2. Design and build apparatus as required
  3. Set up experiments and demonstrations efficiently
  4. Provide expert technical support to pupils and students
  5. Source and procure necessary resources and materials
  6. Support teaching staff in practical lessons
  7. Ensure a safe and healthy work environment
  8. Foster strong relationships with colleagues and students

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a similar science-related role
  • Recent experience working in a school or similar educational setting
  • A motivated and flexible individual who can take initiative
  • Experience with Health & Safety and cleanliness protocols
  • A commitment to safeguarding and protecting vulnerable individuals
