About the Role

Brown & Brown Europe is seeking a seasoned Underwriting Director to lead our Property Underwriting division. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will be responsible for setting underwriting and pricing strategy across our personal and commercial lines property portfolios in the UK & Ireland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement underwriting and pricing strategies to achieve optimal results.
  • Lead relationships with carrier partners, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Work closely with actuaries to monitor underwriting performance and make data-driven decisions.
  • Oversight and sign-off of all products from a technical underwriting perspective.
  • Manage technical and pricing controls to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Support the Governance team with internal and external audits, product governance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and deliver technical underwriting training to enhance team capabilities.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A proven track record in senior underwriting leadership within an MGA, insurer, or Lloyd's environment.
  • At least 10 years of UK property underwriting experience.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of personal and/or commercial lines underwriting.
  • Experience in managing stakeholder relationships, including insurer partners and third-party suppliers.
  • ACII qualification.
Desirable Skills

The following skills would be advantageous:

  • Previous experience in the MGA market.
  • Understanding of the non-standard home and real estate markets.
  • Experience in contract negotiations and data analytics.
