About Us

We Manage Jobs (WMJobs) operates in Shropshire, providing emergency response services to over 493,000 residents. Our team of on-call firefighters attends around 4,000 emergencies annually.

The Service has 3 whole-time stations located in Shrewsbury, Telford and Wellington. We operate from 23 strategically located sites across Shropshire, with a headquarters in Shrewsbury and a Training Centre in Telford.

As an on-call firefighter with WMJobs, you'll provide essential fire cover at 22 stations, working closely with a talented team of support staff to deliver the service our community expects.

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Job Description:

On-Call Firefighter Role

You'll respond to a range of emergencies, from floods and fires to road traffic collisions or chemical spills. Your training will prepare you for these situations, and you'll work closely with colleagues to ensure effective responses.

  • Attend emergency calls and take charge as required
  • Maintain equipment and vehicles in good condition
  • Participate in regular training sessions to develop your skills

Key Requirements:

  • Live or work within five minutes of an on-call fire station (excluding Telford Central)
  • Be over 18 years old
  • Be physically fit (we offer training to support you in this area)
