Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Deputy Operations Manager to oversee the Port Operations Service for our client, ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards, implementing quality management systems, and managing staff and resources effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Oversight: Ensure the provision of suitable equipment, vehicles, and training for staff to perform their duties effectively.
  • Performance Management: Set and enforce performance standards for staff, and implement and maintain ISO9001 and ISO45001 requirements.
  • Staff Management: Schedule Port Operators and ensure they meet the set standards, manage peak demand allocation for tugs, and participate in Management reviews and Internal audits of the Quality Management System.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure all work adheres to safe working practices as defined by PHS management, and attend Operational, Health & Safety, Works, and Welfare meetings.
  • Quality Management: Commit to adhering to and improving the quality and H&S management systems.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience in operations management, preferably within a port or similar industrial environment.
  • Qualifications: Familiarity with Quality Management Systems, specifically ISO9001 and ISO45001.
  • Skills: Strong leadership skills, excellent organisational and planning skills, ability to conduct and participate in management reviews and internal audits, and competence in overseeing staff appraisals and performance reviews.
