About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Credit Risk Portfolio Management Lead to join our Unsecured Credit Risk team at Nationwide Building Society. This is a crucial role that will play a key part in helping us drive and develop our credit risk capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage, coach, and develop SAS analysts who analyse credit risk information, providing stakeholders with valuable insights into the changing credit risks within the Unsecured portfolios.
  • Utilise insights and analytics from your team to enhance the Unsecured portfolios' lending strategies.
  • Drive forward benefits and developments to our regulatory compliance, including close relationships with transformation teams and future strategic infrastructure improvement.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and represent Unsecured Credit Risk at internal and external meetings.
  • Provide expert advice to business partners and design pragmatic solutions that support financial plans while ensuring our lending stays within risk appetite.
  • Assess new tools and data sources as they become available, with a view to using them to support the digitalisation agenda.

Requirements:
  • Proficiency in Credit Risk Portfolio Management.
  • In-depth knowledge of Retail Credit Risk, especially in Unsecured lending.
  • Experience with advanced analytical tools (e.g. SAS) and software (e.g. PowerBi).
  • Ability to oversee and optimise the credit risk portfolio according to Nationwide's risk appetite and strategic goals.
  • Responsible for designing and updating comprehensive credit risk policies that are compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Experience of managing/coaching and developing a team.
  • Collaborating with senior management to integrate risk management frameworks into the Society's strategy.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with internal and external stakeholders.
