About the Role
We are seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join our team at MacIntyre, a national charity that supports over 1,200 people with a learning disability and/or autism. As an HR Advisor, you will be responsible for providing proactive and professional employee relations advice to our managers, supporting good management practices, fair and consistent application of our policies and processes, and promoting staff well-being, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Main Responsibilities
- Support and advise managers on performance and conduct issues, disciplinary, grievances, sickness absence management, and health and wellbeing.
- Manage to conclusion a volume and variety of casework in line with our policies.
- Provide all related documentation to required legal/policy standards and record all casework on the HR System.
- Provide regular case updates, escalate cases of concern, and support the HR Team's reporting to the Senior Leadership Team.
- Support the delivery of HR Training.
- Attend meetings (virtual and in-person) with national travel as required.
- Support engagement initiatives, including staff surveys, focus groups, and attending the employee representative forum (Staff Council).
- Work collaboratively to support various projects and focus areas/teams as required, including Diversity Advisory Group, Safeguarding, and Compliance.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in the HR Team to maintain and improve our service to operational colleagues.
About You
You will need significant experience as an HR Advisor with a strong emphasis on employee relations work. Ideally, you will have a CIPD Level 5 qualification or significant, relevant, and demonstrable experience. You must be able to understand and interpret HR policies and procedures to provide appropriate practical advice for managers, training, and coaching them to gain confidence and experience in people management.
You should have an excellent knowledge of employment law and regulatory requirements. You will be strong on building relationships at all levels with good coaching skills. You will need to be able to understand the wider implications of any issues, appreciate and flag any potential risks and impact on the charity, and consider appropriate solutions.
Ideally, your experience will include multi-site working. We have locations across England and Wales, so you must be a driver with your own transport to travel as needed to meetings across the country.
