Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced medical secretary to join our busy Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at Ipswich Hospital. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, administrative and organisational skills, and be able to produce accurate audio typing and reports as well as responding to ad hoc queries and deadlines effectively.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Audiotyping of clinic letters using the digital dictation system and reports using Microsoft Word within agreed timescales.
  • Co-ordination of administrative functions relating to patient admissions into hospital.
  • Add patients to relevant in-patient and day-case waiting lists on the Patient Administration System.
  • Management and validation of patients 18-week Referral to Treatment pathways.

Person Specification:
  • GCSE Level C and above in English and Maths
  • AMSPAR Qualification
Experience:
  • Proven previous experience as a medical secretary or medical administrator
  • NHS experience
  • Experience of working with members of the public
Knowledge:
  • Confidentiality and Data Protection
  • Knowledge of Lorenzo & Digital Dictation system
  • Knowledge of the 18 week Referral to Treatment pathway.
