Job Title: Compliance Officer

Reed is working with a large Manchester-based educational organisation to find an experienced Compliance Officer to support their rapidly growing team.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Officer to develop and manage systems for assurance and compliance in relation to various aspects of chemical usage, waste management, export controls, National Security and Investment Act, and other key areas of compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement compliance systems and procedures to ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
  • Provide web content, e-learning development, and project management support to colleagues across Compliance & Risk.
  • Collaborate with senior managers to deliver on fast-paced company goals and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of compliance-related activities and ensure timely reporting to senior staff and committees.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in legislation and regulations and provide guidance to colleagues on compliance matters.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in high-level compliance roles, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior managers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work flexibly under pressure and prioritize workloads to meet externally imposed deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the academic research environment and awareness of legislation and regulations associated with the safe procurement, management, and disposal of regulated substances.
Desirable Criteria:
  • A first degree in engineering, chemistry, or a life/physical science.
  • Education and/or certifications in export compliance.
