Job Title: Compliance Officer

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Compliance Officer to join our team at Reed. As a key member of our Compliance and Risk department, you will be responsible for developing and managing systems for assurance and compliance in relation to various aspects of chemical usage, waste management, export controls, National Security and Investment Act, and other key areas of compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage systems for assurance and compliance in relation to various aspects of chemical usage, waste management, export controls, National Security and Investment Act, and other key areas of compliance.
  • Provide a web content, e-learning development, and project management support service to colleagues across Compliance & Risk.
  • Brief senior managers and report to senior staff/committees in an accurate and succinct manner.
  • Prioritize workloads and meet externally imposed deadlines.
  • Work flexibly under pressure.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the academic research environment.
  • Awareness of the legislation and regulations associated with the safe procurement, management, and disposal of regulated substances, including the DGSA role, trade compliance, and governance issues.
  • Experience of briefing senior managers and reporting to senior staff/committees in an accurate and succinct manner.
  • Ability to prioritize workloads and meet externally imposed deadlines.
  • Ability to work flexibly under pressure.

Desirable Criteria:

  • A first degree in engineering (preferred) or chemistry or a life/physical science.
  • Education and/or certifications in export compliance.
