Job Title: Business Tutor

We are seeking a dedicated Business Tutor to join our team at HMP & YOI Bronzefield, the largest women's prison in Europe. As a Business Tutor, you will play a vital role in empowering female prisoners to develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in business and entrepreneurship.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work effectively with the Vocational Curriculum Lead to design and deliver innovative workshop lessons that encourage participation and engagement from prisoners.
  • Ensure the safe use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Adhere to all relevant policies and procedures, including Security, Health and Safety, and Prisoner Welfare.
  • Monitor the take-up of taught training and report any difficulties to your Line Manager.
  • Attend team meetings to evaluate progress and promote good practice.
  • Establish a rapport with prisoners to encourage them to take their first steps in learning and achieve their training goals.
  • Monitor the quality of work produced by prisoners to maintain high standards.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Be highly organized and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Prioritize safety in the workplace and have knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Have a commitment to best practice in equalities and diversity.
  • Be able to instruct effectively and have an interest in the rehabilitation and resettlement of prisoners.
  • Be willing to innovate and demonstrate self-motivation.
  • Have the ability to work under pressure and adapt to change.
  • Be able to operate flexibly as a team member and have awareness of and commitment to the promotion of equal opportunities and diversity.
  • Every employee will be required to obtain a successful security clearance and CRB check.
  • Experience in a prison environment and experience of instructing/supporting people with challenging behavior.
  • Experience of working with people from a range of cultural and faith backgrounds.

Package Description:

Up to £38,000 per annum.

Working Hours:

Fixed - Part-time - Mon, Tue, Wed.
