The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in effective management and leadership, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in underwriting. They will be responsible for leading the National Trading Team South, managing team performance, and ensuring the delivery of efficient case underwriting services to brokers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the success of the National Trading Team by working collaboratively with the management team to achieve team objectives and strategy.
  • Lead the National Trading Team South, ensuring effective management and leadership to deliver required personal and team results, activity, and behaviours in accordance with Arch values and guidelines.
  • Manage team performance, ensuring good understanding of current performance levels, identifying underperformance, and addressing it effectively and in accordance with Arch guidelines.
  • Recruit additional team members when necessary, collaborate with stakeholders, and adhere to Arch procedures.
  • Manage own and team workflow, adapting priorities to successfully deliver our strong service strategy, required SLAs, and quality standards.
  • Ensure personal and team adoption, deployment, and adherence to company and NTT prescribed processes and practices.
  • Review team processes, collate feedback, and work collaboratively to identify solutions to remove blockers, aid continuous improvement, and find efficiencies.
  • Achieve personal and team targets by managing and operating to the Key Performer Indicators and strategic direction of the UKR.
  • Enhance Arch's standing and presence nationally by establishing and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues in the regions and staff at the Regions' most important brokers.
  • Act as the principle escalation point for brokers, including complaints, and resolve these matters through application of strong ownership, effective delegation, and a solution and customer-focused approach.
  • Maintain and enhance personal knowledge of relevant technical issues, supporting the team to achieve the same through effective coaching, support, and performance management.
  • Contribute to the technical knowledge of the Company by feeding back technical and commercial market intelligence to the National Trading Team Underwriting Manager & wider team.
  • Work collaboratively with other parts of the organisation, especially the regions, claims, and survey teams, when required.
  • Ensure any relevant communications are shared with the team, regions, or relevant stakeholders in the appropriate format(s) and in a timely manner.
  • Assist the NTT management team with the creation and presenting of monthly team meetings and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).

Requirements and Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Underwriting required.
  • Experience in effective line management desirable.

  • Demonstrates a range of influencing and negotiation approaches.
  • Consistent achieving of goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum A level standard preferred.

Experience:

  • The job holder will have at least 5 years' experience in the Commercial Insurance industry, strong interpersonal skills, and work in a structured, organised, and planned manner.
