The University of Cambridge is seeking a talented Software Engineer for Intelligence Benchmarking to contribute to a two-year project focused on developing a benchmark for measuring the ability of Artificial Intelligence (AI) agents on real-world data science tasks.

As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work with experts in Computer Science, AI, cognitive science, and other fields to create the interface through which AI agents interact with tasks and assist with running experiments with baseline agents based on state-of-the-art Large Language Models (LLMs).

The ideal candidate will have or be about to obtain an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a technical field, including software engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, and data science. Strong programming skills (preferably in Python), command of the Linux operating system, and familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) are required. Experience with creating Python libraries, handling virtual coding environments, using GPUs, and working with and evaluating LLMs would be beneficial but are not necessary.

The estimated salary for this position is around £27,000-£34,000 per annum, depending on experience. We offer a competitive package that includes benefits such as flexible working hours and professional development opportunities.
