About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead our site operations at Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the site operates safely, efficiently, and effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety and Compliance: Develop and implement a safety-first culture, ensuring all accidents and incidents are reported and thoroughly investigated. Lead the completion of workplace inspections and ensure staff participate in hazard observation schemes.
  • Quality Management: Ensure the site operates within our Quality Management System, maintaining audit readiness for regulatory, internal, and customer audits. Develop and implement training programs to ensure staff are adequately trained.
  • Customer Service: Drive outstanding performance through a robust accountability process, using problem-solving tools to elevate performance every day. Ensure a flexible, trained, and agile team is in place to support business demands.
  • Cost Management: Oversee and lead spend within the site to meet budgetary and financial objectives, with a budgetary spend of approximately £2M. Develop and gain business approval for capital investment to drive improvements in compliance, business, and productivity.
  • People Leadership: Lead approximately 65 colleagues, including direct reports and indirect reports, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and supporting outstanding performance through mentoring.
Requirements
  • Confirmed experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation and its practical application in the workplace, backed up by an IOSH qualification
  • Detailed understanding of GMP and Quality Management Systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • Confirmed experience working within a medical device or pharmaceutical organization
