About the Position:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team at a primary school in Colchester, Essex. As a Special Needs Assistant, you will work closely with students with ADHD, providing individualized support to help them succeed academically and emotionally.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support for students with ADHD.
- Assist with developing and implementing personalized learning plans and behavior strategies.
- Ensure students stay focused and engaged during lessons.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and the SEN team to create a supportive learning environment.
- Provide emotional and social support to students.
Requirements and Essential Skills:
- Previous experience working with children with ADHD or other SEN.
- Knowledge of sensory needs and experience in implementing sensory-based learning or therapeutic activities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, or alternative communication systems.
- A relevant qualification in SEN support or childcare is desirable but not essential.
