About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Senior Marine Geoscientist to join the UK Research and Innovation's Marine Geoscience Team. The team is actively developing new maps and models of the seabed and shallow geology of the UK continental shelf.

The successful candidate will contribute to and lead projects developing new seabed geology maps and models of the shallow subsurface, integrating seismic interpretation, borehole datasets, and knowledge of Quaternary and marine processes. This will support the development of offshore renewable infrastructure and work closely with European partners to develop harmonised datasets that inform planning in the marine environment.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to and lead projects developing new seabed geology maps and models of the shallow subsurface.
  • Integrate seismic interpretation, borehole datasets, and knowledge of Quaternary and marine processes to develop geological ground models.
  • Lead delivery of written reports and outputs in a timely manner.
  • Seek external funding through preparation of project bids and/or research grant applications.
