Job Summary

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Emergency Department administration team as a Patient Flow Coordinator. This vital role works alongside our Medical, Nursing, and Site Management teams to coordinate the activity within the Emergency Department.

As a Patient Flow Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of patients through the Majors/Minors/Resus area. You will work with minimum supervision and provide a range of clerical and administrative duties, providing a first point of contact for Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust staff and visitors reporting to Minors/Majors/Resus.

You will track patient progress through the Majors/Minors/Resus Department and maintain records. You will also maintain the crucial link between the AMU Clinical lead and the Emergency Department (ED). Additionally, you will monitor patient times within Majors/Minors/Resus and liaise with the Clinical team in accordance with guidelines.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the out-of-hours Admin team in the Emergency Department. You must have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with a pleasant telephone manner. It is essential that you have the ability to deal with confidentiality issues and provide excellent customer care service.

Dealing with approximately 105,000 attendances per year, the Emergency Department is an exciting and stimulating place to work and benefits from excellent team working. This role would suit someone who has exceptional interpersonal skills, is proactive, and looking for a challenge.

Main Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the activity within the Emergency Department
  • Ensure the smooth flow of patients through the Majors/Minors/Resus area
  • Provide a range of clerical and administrative duties
  • Track patient progress through the Majors/Minors/Resus Department
  • Maintain records
