Job Title: Senior Security Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Security Specialist to join our team in Reading. As a key member of our security team, you will play a critical role in helping us mature our incident response capabilities and protect our global network from cyber threats.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and guide a team of security analysts in developing their skills and expertise in incident response, threat hunting, and security architecture.
  • Provide technical escalation support and serve as a subject matter expert in security technologies, including intrusion detection, vulnerability management, and incident response.
  • Drive the development of threat hunting, adversary emulation, and security use cases to stay ahead of emerging threats.
  • Analyze complex IT environments and develop defensive methodologies to mitigate potential attack vectors.
  • Experience in analyzing log sources, data normalization, and querying data using analytical platforms such as Splunk, Hadoop, and Elastic.
  • Identify malware types, infection methods, and objectives, and extract IoCs and TTPs.
  • Assist in investigations and respond to security incidents.
  • Take ownership of resolving issues and work collaboratively with the team to achieve our security goals.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience in managing, investigating, and responding to cyber incidents.
  • Deep knowledge of security systems, security architecture, and associated penetration testing and Security Event Management methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of Splunk queries, dash boarding, use case creation, and Enterprise Security.
  • Ability to identify developing patterns and trends in data and provide incident root cause analysis.
  • Experience with security technologies such as Firewalls, Snort, Bro, IDS monitoring, and custom rule creation.
  • In-depth understanding of IT systems and technologies, including Linux and Windows operating systems, email, proxies, and endpoint protection.
  • Working knowledge of SIEM architecture, XDR, and Vulnerability Management.
  • Sandboxing technologies such as Cuckoo and Malware reverse engineering.
  • Understanding of DFIR toolsets, memory and file system analysis, and attack vectors.
  • Knowledge of Data Protection (GDPR) and its role within a business.
Desirable:
  • Global Information Assurance Certifications (GIAC) such as Certified Incident Handler (GCIH), Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA), and Reverse Engineering Malware (GREM).
