Widener University is seeking a highly qualified Clinical Psychologist to join its faculty as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology – Tenure Track in the College of Health and Human Services. This ten-month position is a core faculty position in our graduate level Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching 4 courses per year in the doctoral level clinical psychology program, including developing syllabi, learning objectives, assignments and rubrics, examinations, other course materials, and managing Canvas course site to support courses. They will also demonstrate effectiveness in teaching and student assessment, use faculty development opportunities and teacher effectiveness tools to improve teaching, and supervise/chair 2-4 dissertations per year.

The ideal candidate will have a Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology, demonstrated commitment to graduate education, clear evidence of scholarly potential, and evidence of clear integration of issues related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging into clinical work, research, and/or teaching. Teaching experience in Psychology in higher education and experience providing clinical supervision are preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach 4 courses per year in the doctoral level clinical psychology program
  • Develop syllabi, learning objectives, assignments and rubrics, examinations, other course materials, and manage Canvas course site to support courses
  • Demonstrate effectiveness in teaching and student assessment
  • Supervise/chair 2-4 dissertations per year
  • Engage in scholarly work related to area(s) of interest
  • Contribute to scholarship through presentations and/or publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Attend all university academic events as required in faculty handbook
  • Attend all University, College and Program faculty meetings
  • Serve as academic advisor and/or mentor for 12-15 students in doctoral program
  • Participate in professional activities and service to the University, School, community by participating in faculty governance/committee work as assigned/elected
  • Engage in service to the profession via membership in professional organizations, participation in professional conferences and professional/community-based service activities

Qualifications:

  • Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology
  • Demonstrated commitment to graduate education
  • Clear evidence of scholarly potential
  • Evidence of clear integration of issues related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging into clinical work, research, and/or teaching

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience in Psychology in higher education
  • Experience providing clinical supervision
