Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Reliability Engineer to join our team at Metroline Manchester. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and availability of our assets, working closely with team members to improve operational efficiency and reduce maintenance costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement asset management strategies to enhance reliability and availability.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve operational efficiency and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and statutory requirements for asset management.
  • Develop and implement standards and policies for asset management activities.
  • Explore emerging technologies and opportunities for improvement in maintenance and equipment uptime.
  • Provide technical advice to the business on asset management.
  • Ensure asset compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with OEMs to obtain relevant information on assets.
  • Coordinate the delivery of new assets and their return to TfGM at the end of their contractual life.
  • Investigate in-service failures to determine root cause and capture accurate information in the AI.
  • Support business improvement initiatives and drive continuous improvement and best practice in the depots.
  • Analyze asset management performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Deliver timely and accurate KPI reporting.
  • Monitor and control risks using real-time asset data.

Requirements

  • Educated to degree level in engineering or high-level experience in asset procurement, maintenance, data collection, and analysis.
  • Sound engineering background in maintenance/repair of vehicles and plant, with previous experience working as part of a team and reporting into a senior team.
  • Working knowledge of bus service operation.
  • Able to prioritize workload to meet deadlines within defined budgetary limits.
  • Knowledge of various vehicle types, maintenance procedures, working arrangements, and relevant DVSA legislation & interaction.
  • Current Transport Manager CPC qualification or willingness to work towards.
