This opportunity is now available in the Thame/Princes Risborough area to become a Community Nurse within a newly formed team. Main Duties of the JobCommunity nursing is a specialized area of practice. As a Community Staff Nurse, you will work within a locality team of District Nurse Team Leaders, Community Staff Nurses, Therapists, Assistant Practitioners, and Healthcare Assistants, to meet the needs of the complex patient in the community and avoid admissions to acute settings. This includes medication administration, end-of-life care, managing the deteriorating patient, complex and simple wound care, including negative pressure wound therapy and compression therapy, venepuncture, utilizing advanced assessment skills and clinical nursing skills. We nurse people with a variety of conditions in a holistic manner in their own home and in residential care settings. Community nurses work in close partnership with social care and other primary healthcare professionals, such as GPs, Community Therapies, and specialized services, such as Tissue Viability, Diabetes, and Heart Failure.

Person SpecificationWe are looking for a Registered Nurse or student nurse awaiting confirmation of NMC registration. Desirable criteria include a commitment to own professional development to enhance practice, post-registration education, and extended skills, such as intravenous drug administration and compression dressings. Essential criteria include experience post or pre-registration placements in relevant clinical areas, such as care of the elderly, community, orthopaedics, neurology, respiratory, palliative care, and long-term conditions. Desirable but not essential criteria include knowledge of working with a single assessment, planning, and the delivery of care, and experience of electronic clinical systems and technology, such as RIO.
We require the ability to communicate effectively with patients, relatives, carers, and other professionals, to care for patients without prejudice related to gender, religion, or disability, and to work under pressure. Ability to manage own caseload and knowledge of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and the Data Protection Act are also essential. A car driver or owner able to travel to other locations within the trust is also required.
