Job Title: Passenger Assistant

We are working closely with a Local Authority in Islington to assist with the appointment of a Passenger Assistant, on a 3-month contract, with the possibility of extension. Please submit your CV for immediate consideration.

Job Summary:

This role involves assisting children and young people with specific and complex needs during their journey to and from home, school, or other educational establishments.

Responsibilities:
  • To provide safe and supportive transportation for children and young people with various needs, including mobility problems, visual or hearing impairments, and learning or behavioral difficulties.
  • To ensure the needs of each child or young person are taken into account and to provide individualized support as required.
  • To receive children and young people safely from and to another responsible member of their family or authorized representative at designated times and places.
  • To decide upon suitable seating arrangements in the vehicle, considering the specific requirements of the passengers.
  • To hand over children and young people to the nominated person at the educational establishment.
Requirements:
  • Substantial experience of supervising children in a paid or unpaid capacity.
  • Ability to use necessary safety equipment, including harnesses, wheelchair clamps, and seatbelts.
  • Ability to supervise and control children and young people individually and in groups, and to deal with them patiently and firmly when required.
Important Notes:
  • You should be available to work immediately or at short notice.
  • You should have the right to work in the UK.
  • This role requires an enhanced DBS check.
