GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is a leading global biopharma company dedicated to uniting science, technology, and talent to overcome disease together. We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our team in Stevenage, UK.

Job Description

The primary purpose of this role is to provide ongoing engineering support for managing infrastructure systems at our site. As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for managing consistent execution and ensuring compliance within Automation and OT Security engineering programmes across the site. You will work closely with the site operations team, capital projects, and service partner organisations to deliver facilities, engineering services, and engineering compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Authority for all Industrial Control Systems (ICS) at STV/ADH/HLW sites, covering duties ranging from Asset Registration to User Access Management.
  • Perform 'Management Monitoring' on Service Partner Automation/BMS personnel to ensure adherence to GSK Standard Operating Procedures and Engineering Change Controls.
  • Lead the rebuilding of the site Automation team and improve the overall support model for all ICS systems on the 3 sites in the UK region.
  • Oversight of small capital projects impacting Automation/OT/ICS systems, ensuring application of GSK Automation and OT Cyber Security standards.
Requirements

We are looking for a highly skilled Automation Engineer with extensive experience in supporting Automation/ICS/OT systems. The ideal candidate will possess:

Essential Qualifications:
  • HNC or Degree level in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Robotics, Instrumentation, or related discipline.
  • Proven experience in supporting Automation/ICS/OT systems, including PLC, HMI, Servo, Vision, Field Instrumentation, and off-the-shelf and bespoke facilities equipment.
  • Ability to deliver small Automation-based improvement projects.
  • Experience in a wide range of Automation and Control technologies, as well as field instrumentation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Expertise in Siemens, Rockwell, and Mitsubishi automation platforms.
  • Strong experience in a pharmaceutical or related industry.
  • Proven experience with industrial networks.
  • Experience in commissioning ICS/Automation systems.
Estimated Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum
