About the Role
CK Group is recruiting for an Automation Specialist to work with an industry leading manufacturer of Scientific Instruments. This permanent position will be based at one of their client sites in Stevenage, providing technical services support.

This role is a key component of the technical services team, supporting automated liquid handling and bench-top automation platforms. The successful candidate will work closely with laboratory scientists to develop and optimize scientific protocols, ensuring optimal efficiency and performance.

The responsibilities of this position include:
  • Collaborating with equipment users to create and refine scientific protocols on their automation platforms.
  • Working alongside scientists to design, optimize, validate, and troubleshoot high-throughput automated workflows.
  • Leading Equipment Breakdown Deep-Dive activities to identify and mitigate the root cause.
  • Training equipment users on key concepts associated with the platforms.
  • Maintaining awareness of new developments in Laboratory Automation.
  • Providing technical mediation in long-running equipment issues involving multiple vendors.


About You
To be considered for this role, you should have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical, or Sciences, with 3+ years of experience servicing laboratory equipment. Alternatively, you may have a Higher National Diploma in Engineering, Technical, or Sciences, with 4+ years of experience, or A Levels in Engineering, Technical, or Sciences, with 5+ years of experience, or General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) with 6+ years of experience serving laboratory equipment.

Benefits
This role offers a competitive salary of £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a laboratory environment, handling hazardous waste and adhering to local, state, or federal regulations. Medical Clearance, Respiratory Protection Training, and Fit Testing may be required. The working pace can be fast, with high job completion demands. The successful candidate must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the time and frequently operate on instruments, objects, tools, or controls, which will require bending, squatting, stretching, and reaching.
