Cardiac Physiologist Specialist

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to patients with implantable cardiac rhythm management devices. This includes the implantation and follow-up of devices such as pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators, and cardiac resynchronization therapy devices. The postholder will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care and optimal outcomes.
Main Responsibilities
• Work at an advanced healthcare scientist level to support the Principal Cardiac Physiologist for CRM in delivering a high standard of care for device follow-up patients.
• Provide cross-cover for device implants and work alongside the Principal and Lead Cardiac Physiologists for CRM to manage services such as remote monitoring and complex device implantation/follow-up.
• Participate and present cases at CRM/EP multidisciplinary meetings.
• Cross-cover and support the Lead Physiologist for CRM in the day-to-day running of the CRM service.
• Actively contribute to the smooth running of a quality service and undertake additional managerial responsibilities as designated by the Principal Physiologists.
• Work with the Principal Physiologist for CRM to develop strategies for providing support to patients, including patient support groups.
• Work in any other areas designated by the Head of Cardiac Physiology, including non-invasive and interventional catheter labs for diagnostic and urgent coronary/structural heart intervention.
• Participate in the on-call rota for primary angioplasty and emergency arrhythmia pathway.
Required Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate will hold a BSc in Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or an equivalent qualification, along with IBHRE/BHRS/EHRA (CRM) accreditation. They will also possess intermediate life support skills and highly developed IT skills. A proven track record in implanting and following up CRM devices, as well as good general knowledge of cardiology, is essential. Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues is also required.
