Job Description

Buchan Offshore Wind is a pioneering project that aims to develop a major floating offshore wind farm off the coast of Scotland. As a Project Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the development and delivery of this project.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the design and development of various aspects of the onshore and offshore infrastructure of the Buchan Offshore Wind project. This will include working with an integrated engineering, planning, and project team to identify deliverable and derisked engineering solutions for this critical infrastructure project.

The project is currently finalizing design to support the consenting process and is progressing to concept design phase stage. The Project Engineer will support a broad range of aspects of the design through concept and beyond, working with an integrated engineering, planning, and project team to support the identification of deliverable and derisked engineering solutions for this critical infrastructure project.

We are an agile and integrated engineering and development team, and we will provide training and development opportunities to allow the candidate to broaden their knowledge of offshore wind to enable them to influence the direction of this pioneering project.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Floating offshore wind turbine, hull, and mooring design
  2. Electrical engineering
  3. Windfarm layout design
  4. Construction and installation
  5. Operations and maintenance
  6. Supply chain
  7. HSE and CDM

Within these packages, the project engineer will support the package lead in the following:

  1. Undertaking in-house engineering tasks to inform critical decision making.
  2. Managing delivery of work packages from consultants, designers, and contractors.
  3. Representing the project in a number of public forums.
  4. HSE and CDM compliance in support of Buchan Offshore Wind's duties as Principal Designer.

You will be a central part of the engineering team, supporting high-priority engineering tasks and enabling the whole team to keep Buchan Offshore Wind at the forefront of the floating offshore wind industry.

Candidate Requirements:

The role is anticipated to be fulfilled by an engineer who has growing experience in the design and delivery of major engineering projects. While experience of offshore wind and/or energy projects is desirable, it is considered that experience in other analogous major infrastructure would provide relevant and transferable skills.

  1. BSc/MSc or BEng/MEng or equivalent degree in any relevant engineering or STEM discipline.
  2. Strong technical background of a relevant engineering discipline, ideally across a range of discipline sets.
  3. Agile and adaptable, with experience in working in major project environments.
  4. Strong communicator, able to work effectively with a range of people across engineering and non-engineering disciplines, and an open and collaborative team member.
  5. Skilled in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint.

Location and Working Arrangements:

The post will be:

  1. Full time (35 hours per week)
  2. Based in Glasgow
