Senior Imaging Technician

Job Overview
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and skilled Imaging Technologist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality imaging services to patients, including visual field measurements, disc imaging, OCT, FFA/ICG, slit lamp photography, and retina, anterior segment, and external eye imaging.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform imaging procedures, including visual field measurements and disc imaging
- Operate OCT, FFA/ICG, and slit lamp photography equipment
- Assist in training and supervising junior members of the team
- Contribute to departmental policies and procedures
- Work independently and as part of a team to achieve goals and targets
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Science A Level or equivalent experience
- Significant experience of working within Ophthalmic imaging to degree level equivalent
- Detailed understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the eye and a sound knowledge of ophthalmic conditions
- Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with hospital staff at all levels
- Competent in the use of Humphrey visual field analyser
- Proficient in the imaging of patient's retina, optic discs, corneas using a variety of equipment
- Good, clear communication skills to explain tests to patients
- Methodical approach to tasks and ability to work under pressure
- Excellent hand/eye dexterity and ability to assist patients in wheelchairs
- Ability to perform various imagery in dimly lit and dark environments
- Good level of corrected vision to enable the determination of whether an image is clear and sharply focussed
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
- Competent to use Octopus Perimeter
- Management Experience
- Teaching experience
- Experience of using image manipulation and graphics software
