Job Title: Senior Support Worker
Job Summary:
The Senior Support Worker plays a vital role in providing guidance, support, and encouragement to young people in a variety of settings. This includes classroom, education, and off-site activities. The successful candidate will enable our young people to develop by providing physical and emotional support, while maintaining a stable, happy, and caring environment.
Main Responsibilities:
- Build positive professional relationships with young people and other staff members.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment to live and work in.
- Know and actively promote young people's specific needs and help meet those needs in the most appropriate way.
- Assist young people with their medical and welfare needs and report as required.
- Monitor young people's condition and contribute to linked record keeping.
- Help young people maintain their personal cleanliness, general hygiene, and appearance.
- Keep up to date with and actively promote communication/information systems.
- Attend and participate in meetings as appropriate.
- Be an effective Keyworker/Personal Tutor for young people.
- Support young people towards managing their own behavior.
- Promote equality and uphold the rights and responsibilities of young people and staff.
- Safeguard young people from any form of abuse.
- Write accurate and comprehensive reports for reviews and keep written records.
- Take primary responsibility for a specific area of service development or project.
- Attend all training as required and achieve qualifications appropriate to the role.
- Actively promote and develop learning while participating in programs and activities.
- Attend work reliably and punctually and follow a work pattern as required.
- Support young people during transfers from one residential setting to another.
- Ensure awareness of procedures and policy changes and disseminate information to team members.
- Be prepared to drive the minibus if required.
- Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others.
- Undertake additional duties as required.
- Have knowledge of relevant standards and how they are implemented into the care setting.
- Attend review meetings with young people and act as an advocate where required.
- Be actively involved in the effective planning, preparation, supervision, and review of routines and activities.
- Take responsibility for completing activity planners and sign-in/out books.
- Give constructive feedback to Support Workers and be a mentor.
- Notify management promptly of any matters relevant to the well-being of young people.
- Lead shifts and carry out de-brief as required.
Person Specification:
For new appointments, a selection panel will assess each of the points below against what you have written on the application form.
Key Requirements:
- Ability to carry out effective debrief.
- Qualification – Level 3 RQF certificate in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification.
