About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Flood Risk Consultant to join our Water Environment team in Birmingham. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading models on a range of projects, mentoring and developing other consultants, and developing relationships with clients and regulators.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead models on a range of projects, including flood risk assessments and hydrological and hydraulic modelling.
- Mentor and develop other consultants in the business, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality projects.
- Develop relationships with clients and regulators, providing excellent communication and liaison skills to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Work within a growing multi-disciplinary consultancy, operating across a matrix of projects, and contribute to the development of the Water & Environment Team in this region.
- Conduct site inspections and progress reporting, and attend client and regulatory meetings.
Requirements
- A strong Bachelor's degree in a water subject, combined with well-established consultancy/industry experience as a senior modeler.
- Substantial experience of undertaking flood risk assessments in accordance with NPPF (and/or TAN 15), and hydrological and hydraulic modelling using Flood Modeler Pro or TUFLOW.
- A good understanding of the workings of the Environment Agency (and Natural Resources Wales) and Lead Local Flood Authorities, as well as up-to-date knowledge of current planning policies and procedures.
