Job Summary

At Sandgate Road Surgery, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate Clinical Assistant to join our team. As a Clinical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals in delivering prescribed programmes of care.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct new patient health checks, ensuring accurate and thorough assessments.

• Assist with ECG recordings, phlebotomy, and blood pressure monitoring, maintaining the highest standards of patient safety.

• Process and manage laboratory samples, working closely with GPs and nurses to ensure timely results.

• Maintain surgical equipment, adhering to strict sterilization and cleaning protocols.

• Assist with vaccine and cold chain storage, monitoring, and recording, ensuring compliance with regulations.

• Restock and rotate surgical equipment and vaccines, ensuring seamless patient care.

• Clear and re-stock consulting rooms, maintaining a clean and organized environment.

• Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during, and after patient care interventions.

• Assist in the assessment and surveillance of patients' health and well-being, promoting a culture of patient-centered care.

• Undertake specific clinical activities for named patients, as delegated and taught by healthcare professionals.

• Contribute to raising awareness of health and well-being, promoting healthy lifestyles and disease prevention.

• Assist with data collection and collation on patient needs related to health and well-being.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths.

Desirable

• Care Certificate and KaSPaC or NVQ equivalent.

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

• Experience in directly providing healthcare to patients.

• Demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and professional development.

• Clear and concise communication skills.

• Proven track record of working as part of a team.

Desirable

• Experience working as a HCA in general practice.

• Phlebotomy experience.

• Experience of administering vaccinations.

• Knowledge of wound dressing.
