Job Title: Environmental Health Officer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Health Officer to join our team at Leicestershire County Council. As an Environmental Health Officer, you will play a critical role in protecting the health and wellbeing of our citizens by enforcing environmental health regulations and promoting public health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enforce Environmental Health Regulations: Conduct inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with environmental health laws and regulations.
  • Investigate Complex Cases: Investigate complaints and incidents related to environmental health, including food safety, housing standards, and environmental protection.
  • Advise and Educate: Provide guidance and support to businesses and the public on environmental health matters, promoting best practices and compliance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with Partners: Work with local, regional, and national partners to contribute to multi-agency initiatives that safeguard public health.
  • Take Charge of Prosecutions: Lead compliance efforts and ensure adherence to critical environmental health legislation.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Degree or diploma in Environmental Health and a certificate of registration from the EHRB (or equivalent).
  • Experience: Experienced in regulatory enforcement, with comprehensive knowledge of environmental health legislation across domains like food safety, housing, and environmental protection.
  • Skills: Effective communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills, with the ability to engage with the public, businesses, and stakeholders.
