The Waste Management Administrator is responsible for optimizing waste/refuse management processes with municipalities and SKG Facilities Management. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring accurate municipal billing.
  • Verifying municipal utility accounts for correct waste/refuse collection costs.
  • Collaborating with Facilities Management to procure the right number and type of municipal bins.
  • Auditing and verifying waste billing information against Facilities Management reports.
  • Analyzing variances for all managed buildings and outsourced waste services.
  • Exploring recycling options to reduce contract prices via rebates from recyclers.
  • Partnering with Environmental Social Governance data teams.
  • Liaising with Facilities Management to ensure timely bin placement and collection schedules.
  • Maintaining clean waste areas through collaboration with external service providers.

Key Performance Metrics:

  • Accurate performance reports and standardized building reports.
  • Providing requested reports and reconciliations.

Utility Management Responsibilities:

  • On-site meter readings and data entry/capturing.
  • Tenant account reconciliation and resolving queries promptly.
  • Reviewing billing methodologies and applying correct tariffs.
  • Regular reporting and risk management.
  • Collaborating with Utilities Management and municipalities to secure favorable tariffs.

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • Knowledge of municipal processes, tariffs, and waste handling.
  • Familiarity with basic computer skills and capacity to learn new software programs.
  • Ability to accurately interpret and relay instructions, as well as transfer written information.
  • Understanding of modern office procedures and account posting procedures.
  • Calm and courteous communication with customers and municipalities.

We estimate a salary range of R250,000 - R300,000 per annum for this position, based on industry standards and location factors.
