About the Role

Radioactive Waste Management Limited seeks a highly skilled Waste Management Technical Lead to drive delivery of its mission, support effective management of UK radioactive waste, and new nuclear build. This role will directly influence the delivery of waste management activities across the UK and support the long-term success of NWS disposal systems and services.

The successful candidate will ensure consistent and authoritative technical decision-making across the portfolio and establish effective stakeholder relationships. They will be accountable for all technical scope within the assigned portfolio of responsibilities, ensuring effective delivery to time, cost, and quality, working collaboratively with the WM&I Capability Lead to develop and deploy competent resources to the portfolio.

The role requires a strong understanding of waste acceptance and/or assessment, waste auditing, and assurance of the implementation of waste management practices. The incumbent will also have experience in delivering Disposability Assessments and engagements for Nuclear New Build and other waste packagers outside the NDA Group.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver Disposability Assessments and engagements for Nuclear New Build and other waste packagers outside the NDA Group, ensuring integration with wider programme of Disposability Assessments, engagements, and programming/prioritisation.
  • Provide expert waste management advice and guidance to assigned customers on the production of waste packages to align with NWS standards and specifications, and the geological disposal concept.
  • Fulfil knowledge management requirements for Assurance of Disposability for Nuclear New Build and Others assessments to support the future disposal of HAW.

Requirements

  • A degree in a science or engineering subject, or equivalent experience in the field.
  • Experience in a management and/or leadership role, with a proven track record of delivering results.
  • Extensive experience in oversight, critical review, and challenge of technical activities, including technical report writing to a good standard of English.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships.
  • A minimum of £65,000 per annum salary, commensurate with experience.
