Exciting Opportunity: Student Support Specialist in a Special School

Salary:$30,000 - $40,000 dependent on experience

GSL Education is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Student Support Specialist for a special school in Hackney. This role is perfect for individuals with a passion for supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them overcome behavioural challenges and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and group support to students with special needs and moderate learning difficulties.
  • Help manage challenging behaviour, implementing effective strategies to promote positive behaviour.
  • Work closely with teachers and other staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Support students' emotional and social development, fostering a positive and encouraging atmosphere.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working in an SEN setting is preferable.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage challenging behaviours effectively.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting students with complex needs.
  • A sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
