Refuge Service Specialist

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on individuals and families, as well as experience of working with vulnerable populations, particularly women and children.
The specialist will be responsible for developing positive relationships with women and their child(ren), supporting them through the use of a strengths-based approach, formulating, implementing, and reviewing support plans, advocating on their behalf, and accompanying them to relevant agencies.
The specialist will also be required to provide play sessions for pre-school and school-aged children, planning and providing a play scheme of in-house activities and trips during holiday periods, assisting mothers with parenting skills, and signposting them to external agencies if required.
A key aspect of this role is being able to demonstrate compassion and empathy to service users who have experienced trauma, while also being able to facilitate and deliver direct work supporting families who have experienced domestic abuse.
