Job Title: Advanced Occupational Therapist

South Gloucestershire Council is seeking an experienced and skilled Advanced Occupational Therapist to join their team. As an Advanced Occupational Therapist, you will play a key role in enabling individuals to achieve their goals and maintain independence.

About the Role

The main duties and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Assessing referrals to the Reablement Service and working with practitioners to ensure sufficient information has been provided.
  • Supporting individuals to achieve their goals and adjusting these where relevant.
  • Considering ways to support reablement workers to be effective in their interventions, including using task analysis, different techniques, and the provision of equipment, assistive technologies, and housing adaptations.
  • Managing a caseload with support and regular supervision, and working alongside colleagues in the locality teams to support their reablement referrals.
  • Advising on ways of enhancing reablement outcomes, including strategies, equipment, and assistive technology, and training or signposting.
  • Advising and informing Disabled People and their Carers about Services available, including services available under the Care Act.
  • Working within the 3 Conversations Model, utilising a strength-based approach.
  • Making important recommendations for a significant budget spend, ensuring maximum value is delivered for the resources deployed.
  • Developing and maintaining close working relationships with the reablement provider.
  • Requiring skilled communication, including liaising and working with contacts from different sectors, including Health and voluntary.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need to have:

  • A Professional Occupational Therapy Qualification, Dip COT, BSc Honours OT, (or equivalent), and demonstrate current State Registration and be registered with the Health Professionals Council.
  • Experience of working in a hospital or community setting or voluntary or agency providing Occupational Therapy Services.
  • The ability to demonstrate theoretical and applied knowledge relating to Disabled People and their needs.
  • Up-to-date and sound knowledge of all related legislation relevant to Social Services Occupational Therapy and legislation supporting this.
  • Experience of managing complex cases and applying excellent assessment skills in practice.
  • Excellent time management skills, allowing you to work efficiently to meet the service requirements.
