The South Gloucestershire Council is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist/Advanced to join our team in the South Glos Reablement Service. As an Occupational Therapist/Advanced, you will play a vital role in enabling individuals to recognize their strengths and abilities, with a focus on people setting their own goals and achieving independence.
Key Responsibilities- Consider referrals to the Reablement Service and work with practitioners to ensure sufficient information has been provided and to encourage an approach that prevents, delays, or minimizes the need for longer-term care.
- Support individuals to achieve their goals and adjust these where relevant.
- Consider ways to support reablement workers to be effective in their interventions, including using task analysis, different techniques, and the provision of equipment, assistive technologies, and housing adaptations.
- Hold a caseload with support and regular supervision, and work alongside colleagues in the locality teams to support their reablement referrals.
- Advise on ways of enhancing reablement outcomes, including strategies, equipment, and assistive technology, and training or signposting.
- Advise and inform Disabled People and their Carers about Services available, including services available under the Care Act.
- Be responsible for making important recommendations for a significant budget spend, ensuring maximum value is delivered for the resources deployed.
- Develop and maintain close working relationships with the reablement provider.
- Require skilled communication, including liaising and working with contacts from different sectors, including Health and voluntary.
- Professional Occupational Therapy Qualification, Dip COT, BSc Honours OT, (or equivalent), and demonstrate current State Registration and be registered with the Health Professionals Council.
- Demonstrate experience of working in a hospital or community setting or voluntary or agency providing Occupational Therapy Services, relevant to this post.
- Prove that you can demonstrate theoretical and applied knowledge relating to Disabled People and their needs.
- Show up-to-date and sound knowledge of all related legislation relevant to Social Services Occupational Therapy and legislation supporting this.
- Have experience of managing complex cases and demonstrate that you can apply excellent assessment skills in practice.
- Be excellent at time management, so that you are able to work efficiently to meet the service requirements.
- For Advanced Occupational Therapist: Have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience, evidence of meeting the essential (and desirable where possible) criteria for the role of Advanced Occupational Therapist or in South Gloucestershire Council, and a clear commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
- Be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area, so must have a full valid driving license with regular access to a vehicle or have alternative appropriate means of travel.
