Job Title: Duty Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Duty Manager to join our team at Downham Leisure Centre. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest possible standards of health and safety and customer care within the Centre.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Health and Safety: Ensure the Centre is maintained to the highest standards of health and safety, including the provision of a clean and safe environment for customers and staff.
  2. Customer Care: Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring that all customers receive a warm and welcoming experience.
  3. Leisure Programme Development: Develop and promote an exciting and innovative leisure programme to increase usage and profitability of the Centre.
  4. Shift Management: Assume shift management responsibility for the Centre, maximising performance and maintaining high standards of customer care.
Day-to-Day Tasks:
  1. Facility Maintenance: Ensure the provision of a clean and high-quality facility, including the maintenance of equipment and facilities.
  2. Team Management: Act as a member of the Leisure Centre Management Team, working on a shift rota system during opening hours.
  3. Poolside Duties: Be available to work poolside on a regular shift or as required, ensuring the delivery of the Centre programme.
  4. Health and Safety Procedures: Ensure all Health and Safety procedures and responsibilities are carried out at all times.
  5. Deputising: Deputise for the Contract Manager/Centre Manager as requested.
  6. Staff Training: Assist the Contract Manager/Centre Manager in providing appropriate staff training and development.
  7. Financial Management: Ensure the Centre's financial systems and procedures are implemented and maintained.
  8. Teaching and Coaching: Provide teaching and coaching courses for all areas of the operation, including recruitment and maintenance of a register of qualified coaches.
  9. Activity Development: Identify and assess the feasibility of new activities which the Centre could provide.
  10. Staff Communication: Ensure all staff are kept informed of the Centre's activities and special events.
  11. Participation Levels: Achieve maximum levels of participation in all courses and activities.
  12. Cost Effectiveness: Monitor cost effectiveness and highlight and rectify areas of low performance.
  13. Performance Records: Produce performance records, statistics, targets, and reports for programming and associated activities.
  14. Marketing and Publicity: Assist in the marketing and publicity of all activities and events, developing distribution networks for promotional materials and merchandising of products.
  15. Staffing: Ensure sufficient staff are available for the safe and high-quality functioning of the Centre.
  16. Quality Assurance: Assist in the management of the Centre's quality assurance systems and procedures.
  17. Coaching and Teaching: Coach and teach as required, and generally assist with the running of events.
  18. Key Holder: Act as a main key holder for the Centre, responsible for opening and closing the building and emergency call-outs.
  19. Regulatory Requirements: Undertake any regulatory requirements.
  20. Cash Handling: Be responsible and accountable for cash handling as required.
  21. Additional Duties: Undertake any other duties as may be required by the Contract Manager to ensure that the business objectives of the contract are achieved.
