Job Summary

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Policy Lead to join its Policy team. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the department's policy agenda, particularly in relation to the upcoming BBC Charter Review.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and delivery of complex policy initiatives, working closely with senior officials and stakeholders to ensure effective decision-making.
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to the Policy team, ensuring that policy objectives are met and that the team is equipped to deliver high-quality outputs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the department to identify and address policy challenges, and to develop innovative solutions that meet the needs of the department and its stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including senior officials, Ministers, and external partners.
  • Contribute to the development of the department's policy agenda, identifying areas for improvement and developing proposals for change.
Requirements
  • Proven experience of leading on the development and delivery of complex policy initiatives, with a strong track record of success.
  • Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex information and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality outputs.
  • Knowledge of the media and cultural sectors, with a strong understanding of the policy challenges and opportunities facing the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
