About the Role

The Government Relations and Public Policy team at TikTok is seeking a dynamic Public Affairs and Ecommerce Policy Lead to join our team. This person will play a crucial role in advancing TikTok's mission by navigating complex regulatory landscapes.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating sound judgment and a proactive approach to managing risks and opportunities in a rapidly scaling business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay abreast of emerging policy trends and developments at European and market level, and track public policy developments that could impact TikTok Shop, providing insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders on potential implications for TikTok's business and operations.
  • Drive internal alignment and strategies around risks and opportunities for TikTok's ecommerce operations.
  • Drive TikTok Shop's public policy and government affairs strategy for Europe, with an eye towards integration of strategies globally.
  • Build and execute engagement strategies on a European level as well as in individual markets to bring coherence and expertise to local projects and teams across markets.
  • Responsible for building and leading a world-class team in the intersection between public policy and ecommerce.
  • Lead government advocacy and public policy engagement in partnership with local GR teams as well as ecommerce teams.
  • Lead on the development of public policy positions and consultation responses.
  • Manage consultants and establish meaningful relationships with trade associations.
  • Work on strategic cross-functional workstreams and forums to drive best-in-class operation of the business in the region, in partnership with other regional leaders.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience working in public policy, and a strong understanding of what makes effective government relations and public policy strategies successful.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High level of expertise in legislative, public policy, and regulatory issues affecting ecommerce (from international trade to product safety and ESG issues).
  • Strategic thinker, strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
  • A strong track record of working independently, and leading projects from conception to successful completion across multiple markets.
  • An authentic interest in building strong relationships with your teammates and key external stakeholders, as well as a willingness to jump into tasks with a positive and can-do attitude.
  • Outstanding communication and writing skills, with the ability to distill complex policy issues into simple explanations and compelling messages.
  • Experience building, managing, leading, and inspiring creative, collaborative, and high-performing teams, and proven performance indirectly leveraging cross-functional teams to drive strategic growth initiatives.
