Electrical Engineer - Data Center Pre-Construction

Dornan Engineering Ltd. is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Data Center Pre-Construction Engineering team in Newcastle, UK.

We are a leading Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrumentation contractor with projects in Ireland, Europe, and the UK.

Our team is involved in various sectors, including Pharmaceutical, Power, Waste to Energy, Commercial, Data Centre, and Petrochemical.

  • Supports Project Engineering teams and oversees electrical engineering development.
  • Works directly with clients and project teams to define project requirements and develop technical solutions and support project commercials.
  • Leads Pre-Construction Engineering activities and produces information, including design development, construction details, services coordination, technical submittals, sub-contracts, etc.
  • Assists in the continual improvement of the QA System and executes project reviews.
  • Provides technical support to the estimating, procurement, commercial, marketing, and project bid teams.
  • Provides off-site technical support to construction teams on projects, with travel to sites also required.
  • Develops commissioning strategy and supports commissioning and troubleshooting activities.
  • Interrogates the project design and identifies Sustainable and Value Engineering Solutions.
  • Liaises with vendors, suppliers, sub-contractors, specialist designers, manufacturers, etc., with respect to the specification, validation, carbon footprint, and value engineering of products and equipment to be supplied to the project.
  • Processes internal procurement from equipment inquiries through requisitioning and monitoring manufacture through to delivery to site while maintaining a comprehensive audit trail.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of previous experience within the engineering and construction industry is desirable.
  • Strong technical ability in all aspects of Electrical Engineering and Construction Services.
  • Experience in Amtech, Dialux, Adobe Pro, Bluebeam, Navisworks, BIM360, BIMCollab, and MS Office Suite Software.
  • Knowledge and experience of current Design Guides, Codes of Practice, IS and or BS Regulations, Building Regulations, EN Standards, and IEC Standards, etc.
  • Proactive with a strong ability to work independently and without supervision.
