About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our thriving Paediatric Community Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in empowering children and young people to achieve their full potential in daily occupations such as self-care, school, and leisure.

As a Paediatric Occupational Therapist, your primary responsibility will be to provide comprehensive assessments, develop tailored intervention plans, and deliver evidence-based treatments to address the occupational needs of children and young people. You will work collaboratively with families, schools, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination and optimal outcomes.

Main Duties
  • Conduct thorough assessments in areas of self-care, school, and play/leisure to identify strengths and challenges.
  • Tailor individualized treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each child or young person, incorporating family-centred goals and strategies.
  • Deliver high-quality interventions, including workshops and training sessions for parents, carers, and education staff, to promote knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Evaluate progress using appropriate outcome measures and modify strategies as needed to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Lead in the creation and delivery of service workshops to both families and professionals, promoting knowledge sharing and best practice adoption.
  • Analyse and reflect on current service provision, contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
Person Specification

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent overseas qualification.
  • Registration with HCPC.
  • Postgraduate experience of advanced clinical reasoning within a range of occupational performance components (Motor, Perception, cognitive, sensory, ADLS).
  • Specialist knowledge of paediatric conditions, including DCD, cerebral palsy, autism, and sensory processing needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams.
